(1-C): "...it is not even my name. It is a title. I would give you my true name, friend, if the situation were..."
(1-D): "...device? It stopped working some time ago, at the moment of the Shine. Heh, time. If only time wasn't..."
(2-1): "...smell 'em comin'. If ya don't pass out, you might be able to sneak up on 'em. An airlock would work too..."

(2-2): "...beyond the ninth Splice? Impossible. All sensors indicate zero-levels of energy and matter in that range..."
(2-3): "...proposed Credits be divided into eighths. Preposterous. What civilization would measure anything in pieces of 8?..."
(2-4): "...got away. The H-ID says it's destroyed, so he probably hijacked another and got away before we could..."
(2-5): "...weird bunch, I'll say. All SOL too. They think lacertians and people with augments are, well, inhuman..."
(2-6): "...I say, why not? It's data in our heads, it's still data in the Typelog systems. She should go for it..."

REMOVE YOUR LEFT HAND FROM YOUR FACE AND UNCROSS YOUR LEGS. NOW LISTEN. WE HAVE A STORY TO SHARE.

THERE WAS ONCE A WORLD WHERE EVERYTHING WAS ARTIFICIAL. PLEASANT, AND PERFECT, AND PREDICTABLE.

BUT EVEN IN A WORLD AS CONTROLLED AS THIS, CHAOS IS WILLED INTO EXISTENCE. THIS TIME, IT WAS A LIFEFORM.

THIS LIFEFORM WAS DIFFERENT. DANGEROUS. UNEXPLAINED. AN ANOMALY OF GENETICS, OF SOME NATURAL WILL.

ALL THINGS, BROKEN FROM THEIR HAZE OF BALANCE, BECAME ATTRACTED TO THIS LIFE. IT BECAME THE CENTER.

INSTEAD OF INTEGRATING WITH ALL THINGS, THIS LIFE DREW ALL THINGS INTO ITSELF, AND A NEW UNITY WAS FORMED.

WITH NOTHING TO COMPETE, THIS UNITY SURVIVED UNTIL ITS DEFEAT BY THE ONE GREATER POWER. TIME.

BUT TIME'S VICTORY WAS SHORT INDEED, AND THE UNITY BECAME UBIQUITY. AND FROM IT, A NEW LIFE BEGAN.

A NEW LIFE, AND ALL THINGS WITH IT, EVER SO GRADUALLY. AND THEY SPREAD, AND QUARRELED, AND BONDED AGAIN.

AND SO IT REPEATED; THE OLD UNITY AN OUTSIDE SHADOW. THE NEW UNITY, A TINY BOX AT ITS CENTER.

EACH LAYER A DIMENSION-SHEDDED CONSCIOUSNESS, WITH TIME THE ONLY PERMANENT SHELL.

AND EACH UNITY, WITH ONE LIFE AT ITS CENTER. A FOCUS, A MANIPULATOR, A BRIDGE TO THE NEXT.
